Members of the Senedd may make a request at any time to ask an Emergency Question to a member of the Welsh Government or Assembly Commission during Plenary meetings. However, Emergency Questions are only allowed if the Presiding Officer (or the Deputy Presiding Officer if a question relates to the Senedd Commission) is satisfied that the question is of urgent national significance.
Emergency Questions were introduced in May 2017, alongside Topical Questions. These replace the procedure for asking Urgent Questions.
A list of all the requests for Urgent Questions made in the Assembly up until May 2017 is available on the Urgent Questions pages.
