The Senedd is committed to providing an inclusive culture that is free from harassment.

We expect that those who work with, or come in to contact with, Members of the Senedd, the staff they employ or Senedd Commission employees, are treated with dignity and respect.

We aim to ensure that:

  • everyone feels safe, respected and comfortable when they engage with the Senedd;
  • the people who work here feel safe, respected and comfortable in their working environment;
  • the culture of the Senedd is a diverse and inclusive one that reflects the people of Wales;
  • behaviour that adversely affects the dignity of others has no place in this institution;
  • complaints will be dealt with confidentially and fairly to all those involved;
  • the options and procedures for reporting breaches are clear.

Following statements made by the Llywydd, the Chair of the Standards of Conduct Committee and party group leaders in November 2017 and February 2018, the Senedd’s Dignity and Respect policy was approved in May 2018.

Raising concerns

To support our commitment to dignity and respect, we recognise the need for individuals to be clear about the options and procedures for reporting potential breaches, having confidence that any complaints will be dealt with confidentially and fairly to all those involved.

If you feel that you have not been treated with dignity and respect, we encourage you to use the support available to try to resolve the issue as early as possible.

If you are not ready to make a complaint at this stage but would like to discuss your concerns, or if you are not certain how to make a complaint, please contact one of our Contact Officers, confidentially.  Details about the role of our Contact Officers are contained within our Dignity and Respect guidance, together with their contact details.  Our Freephone number 0300 200 6145 will connect you with one of them.

We appreciate that anyone making a complaint under our procedures, or those who have allegations against them, may require support. Options are provided in the information below. If you approach our Contact Officers, they will also be able to discuss these with you.

You may wish to consider discussing concerns with your manager, a Member of the Senedd, a Contact Officer or a trade union representative, as appropriate,  so that they can support you in raising your concerns, whether formally or  informally.
