What is a Senedd Committee?

Committees are small groups of Members of the Senedd. They discuss important matters that affect the lives of people in Wales.

Committees:

  • check and challenge work of government, by undertaking inquiries that examine the actions and spending of the Welsh Government and other public bodies.
  • scrutinise laws before and after they are passed, and propose changes to them if they think they need improving.
  • hear from citizens, organisations, and experts to gather their valuable perspectives and personal experiences on topics important to them.
  • conduct work openly, ensuring that the Welsh Government and other public bodies are publicly answerable for their actions and decisions.
