Committee to scrutinise Minister

The Health, Wellbeing and Local Government Committee of the National Assembly for Wales will scrutinise the Minister for Social Justice and Local Government in depth on key issues within his portfolio at its next meeting on Wednesday November 7th.  This is the first time the Minister has appeared before the Committee since the election.   Issues that the Committee has identified for discussion include:
  • Proposed new powers for the Assembly to make laws in respect of local authority matters including structures and boundaries
  • information for the public on the standard of Local Government Services
  • Fire and Rescue Services
  • Local Government funding including pensioners can be helped with their Council Tax
  • Funding for Local Authority Equal Pay arrangements; and
  • Substance Misuse
The Committee will also decide on the best way to proceed with a petition from the Kidney Wales Foundation calling for the number of organ donors to be increased. The petition has been referred to the committee by the Petitions Committee.   The meeting takes place in Committee Room 2, the Senedd from 9.30am until 11.30am. Full details and an agenda
