Educational Visits to the Senedd for Secondary Schools and Colleges

Book curriculum linked educational sessions for pupils, designed to bring politics to life and spark debate.

We host one school/cluster of schools/colleges for each session, there are six session slots available each week. 

Schools/colleges can choose which theme they would like the session to cover from the options below. Please note we can deliver only one session per timeslot, regardless of the session theme chosen. The 'Our Senedd' session is only available on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. 

We offer a travel subsidy to support with transport related costs for educational visits to the Senedd, Cardiff Bay. If you intend to make a travel subsidy claim it would be helpful to have the accounting details at the time of booking.

Our Senedd: Tuesday and Wednesday 13:00 – 14:30 to correspond with Plenary

Our Senedd

Suitable for Years 7-11. Maximum 40 pupils. Pupils will role play the work of a Member of the Senedd and take part in a debate, after seeing the Senedd in action.

Additional session themes available: Tue, Weds and Thurs 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-15:00, and Thurs 13:00 – 15:00

Please note that we can accommodate only one session per time slot, therefore availability of slots does not differ depending on the theme chosen. Select the images below to learn more, and to book.

Past, Present and Future

Suitable for Years 7-13. Maximum 30 pupils. Learners will reflect on the past, present  and future of Wales by visiting two iconic buildings in Cardiff Bay, the Senedd and Pierhead.

Government and Politics AS

Suitable for Year 12 & 13. Tailored programmes for pupils taking AS Level Government and Politics.

Additional Learning Needs

Groups can learn about the work of the Senedd with activities in our education centre.

Secondary School Senedd or School Council visit

Year 7-13: Representatives will role play the work of an MS in Committee, before a debate in the original debating chamber.

How Wales is governed?

Suitable for Years 10-13. Maximum 60 pupils. Pupils/students will explore how Wales is governed, along with how the Senedd makes laws and scrutinises Welsh Government. 

Power and Protest

Suitable for Years 7-10. Maximum 60 pupils. Explore the work of different campaigners and be empowered to contribute and challenge decision makers in Wales.

Our Group tours are available to schools. The tours are free, but there is no travel subsidy available for these bookings.
