Pupils will receive a presentation with discussion around democracy, activism and active citizenship. Hear about various campaigns and campaigners. Create a high impact, relevant campaign on an issue that matters to the pupils.

On a tour of the Senedd, pupils will learn about Plenary meetings in the Senedd by visiting the original debating chamber. They will learn about the role of the Llywydd, First Minister, Welsh Government Ministers and backbench Senedd Members.

I have an understanding of a range of governance systems and how people have been represented at local, national and global levels, including how systems of government in Wales operate both now and in the past, and I can compare and explain differences between these systems.

Senedd Visit ( Present)

Pupils will learn about Plenary meetings in the Senedd by visiting the debating chamber.

Pupils will learn about the sustainability features of the Senedd, meet their Members ( if available) and learn more about the work of an MS in Plenary and Committees.

Pierhead ( Past )

Discover how the building and its inhabitants helped shape Cardiff Bay from the 1880s -1950s.

Learners will complete an activity booklet to help them explore the history of Tiger Bay and the Docks.

I can describe the different ways that countries and societies, including Wales have been governed in the past and present.

Pierhead ( Future)

As informed citizens learners will think critically about problems and issues in society, have an appreciation of sustainable development and explore how they can play and active role in shaping Wales for the future through the lens of the Well Being and Future Generations ( Wales ) Act.

Powerpoint presentation exploring what is the Senedd and the difference between the Senedd and Welsh Government. Learners will begin to understand the differences in powers between the Senedd and UK Parliament and explore how individuals and groups get their voices heard.

I can explain the importance of the role played by groups, governments, businesses and non-governmental organisations in the creation of a sustainable future, and how they impact on people and their rights and on the environment.

Pupils will learn about Plenary meetings in the Senedd by visiting the debating chamber. Opportunity to question their elected representatives, if available. 

Learners will role play Plenary in the original debating chamber.  Learners will debate the issues and ideas presented.
