The Senedd building was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on St David’s Day in 2006. Designed by architectural firm Rogers, Stirk, Harbour and Partners (RSHP), the building makes extensive use of Welsh materials like slate and oak.
In this display we share some of Ivan Harbour’s early sketches for the Senedd and talk about the values that underpin the building, such as environmental sustainability, transparency, and openness.
Join us in the Pierhead to find out more.
‘In a parliament, business frequently happens “behind closed doors”. In the design of the Senedd, as a modern democracy, we removed those doors to make the work of the Senedd visible.’
