Monday – Friday: 09.00 - 16.30  

Saturdays and bank holidays: 10.30 - 16.30  

Last entry is 16.00  

Please note: the Senedd building is open before and after usual opening times to accommodate visitors viewing Plenary, committees and other Senedd business.

Directions

Active Travel

There are two locations on the estate for cycle parking, near the Pierhead and Tŷ Hywel entrances.

There are cycle trails in each direction. The Cardiff Council website has resources to help plan your journey.

 

Bus​​​

The No. 6 Baycar leaves from Cardiff Queen Street Station, Dumfries Place, Greyfriars Road, St. Mary Street or Cardiff Central Railway Station and stops at both Pierhead Street and outside the Wales Millennium Centre adjacent to the Senedd.

Routes 7 and 8 depart from Canal Street and Westgate Street respectively and stop on Pierhead Street, a short walk (approximately 200 metres) from the Senedd, Tŷ Hywel and the Pierhead building.

Train

Services run from Cardiff Queen Street Station to Cardiff Bay Station. The station is a few minutes walk from the Senedd, Tŷ Hywel and the Pierhead building.

Road

From the West, leave the M4 at junction 33, follow the A4232 to Cardiff Bay and follow signposts to Welsh Parliament, CF99 1SN.

From the East, leave the M4 at Junction 29, follow the A48 and then A4232 to Cardiff Bay and follow sign posts to Welsh Parliament, CF99 1SN.

Disabled Car Parking

Parking is available by prior arrangement for visitors to the Senedd who are disabled.

In the case of visitors who are attending meetings with Members of the Senedd, Welsh Ministers or officials, arrangements should be made with their offices.

In the case of visitors attending Plenary meetings, committee meetings or pre-arranged visits to the Senedd, parking can be arranged by contacting us

There is an external lift available for visitors who are disabled at our accessible parking area outside the Senedd.

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is usually required together with information about the vehicle and driver. Visitors must display their disabled parking badge on arrival.

 

Coach Parking

Taxi

A number of companies provide taxi services from Cardiff city centre to Cardiff Bay. Taxi ranks are situated across the city, including outside Cardiff Central railway station. The nearest location to the Senedd estate is on Bute Street near Mermaid Quay.

 

Car Parking

The nearest car park is the Q-Park multi-storey on Pierhead Street, a short walk from the Senedd. A discount can be applied to pre-bookings using the code ‘SEN’.
On-street, pay and display parking may be available on Harbour Drive or there is a pay and display car park off Stuart Street.

Family friendly

  • Breastfeeding and bottle feeding are welcome.
  • A Changing Places toilet and baby changing facilities available.
  • The Senedd has a play area for children complete with toys, sensory play, and a large map of Wales, it is located close to the Café.
  • The Café offers bottle warming, water top-ups, and highchairs are available.
  • Two quiet rooms are available, please ask a member of staff for access to these or if there is anything we can do to make you more comfortable. 
  • Pick the Senedd Explorer Trail publication for free. Aimed at 5 – 7-year-olds, the trail highlights five important features in the building.
  • We have developed this page to support visitors with autism.

Considerations before visiting 

  • If you require first aid assistance during your visit, please speak to a member of staff who will be able to help. There are first aid trained members of staff, first aid rooms, and first aid kits with defibrillators available.
  • Please inform us prior to your arrival if you require additional assistance, particularly during emergency evacuations. We can arrange to meet with you at the building’s entrance and create a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) for you.
    During an emergency evacuation, the Senedd estate will sound a fire alarm. In the event of an alarm, please make your way to the nearest exit. A member of staff (usually a fire warden or Security staff) will show the way out of the building and to an assembly point.
  • The Senedd is committed to keeping all building users safe. If you experience a near miss or injury whilst attending the estate, please inform a member of staff or contact us.
  • please allow approximately 15 minutes to go through security;   
  • there may be a short queue outside the building prior to entering;   
  • please minimise any belongings you bring with you into the building. Takeaway food and drink is not permitted;   
  • our café, shop, toilets and Changing Places facility, will be open. Our cloakroom will be closed.
  • Free wi-fi available.
